MCNET can assist with the following funeral needs:

  • Inform the community about the loss; ask for duas and Janazah prayer timing
  • Help coordinate or assist with washing of the deceased.(family members are welcome to assist as well)
  • Provide kafan (burial shroud), if needed
  • Arrange the salaatul janazah (funeral prayer) at the masjid
  • Assist at the cemetery with the rituals or duaa and burial.
  • Continue to follow-up after the funeral if the family needs any assistance​




Cemetery


MCNET provides burial services for Muslims who pass away in the region. It is the only place in Tri-city area where Muslim burial and janazah prayer takes place. Ghusul ( washing of the body in a religious way prior to burial) of the body takes place at the Masjid followed by Janazah prayer on the same day normally. The body is then taken to the cemetery and Islamic burial takes place with the help of trained Muslim brothers and sisters at the Oak hill cemetery in Johnson City,TN. A section of a large cemetery is dedicated to Muslim burial.

The Muslim Community of North East Tennessee (MCNET) as an organization was formed in the beginning of 1991. Prior to that there were various homes, basements, racquetball courts, and a MSA chapter  at ETSU which had dedicated room in the Math Building at ETSU for its activities  including Jumuah.
